Our fears all stem, to some extent, from a tendency to subject hypothesis to hyperbole. Even if we have good grounds for nervousness, we rarely allay it by giving it too much attention. If something is going to happen, it is going to happen. If it is not going to happen, it is not going to happen. You can try to influence the outcome of a drama. But to alter its course you will require a clear head. You won't get this by dwelling on some big idea about how you think things 'ought' to be.
