'I see trees of green, red roses too...' So sang Louis Armstrong when he thought to himself, 'What a wonderful world.' So did we when we heard him singing it. For one moment, at least, we forgot. We forgot how much we enjoy criticising and complaining. We forgot how much there is to find fault with, disapprove of or campaign against. Is the world wonderful? Yes, if you want to see it that way. And it's terrible too, if you want to start looking at all that's wrong. Pick the right perspective now and your heart will fill with joy!
Some people are not always very civil or polite. Others are too nice. Almost suspiciously so. Some people are remote. Others empathise more than they possibly should. It is never easy to strike a perfect balance. Even if one aspect of someone's character seems wonderful, you may find some other side to their personality irritates you. We have to be careful about making big, lifetime decisions on the basis of passing, intense reactions. Apply some patience to a choice you're now leaning towards.
Imagine if there were a world market in happiness. What if the price of joy and fulfilment rose and fell according to the laws of supply and demand. What if a global shortage of wisdom meant a steep rise in the cost of contentment? Yet if we all had as much delight and magic in our lives as we could ever possibly want, we'd never devalue the currency or create a kind of emotional inflation. Deep in the bank of your heart, there's an endless reserve of kindness. Make a withdrawal now. Give generously.
You don't need to be a businessperson to be a deal maker. We all negotiate, all the time. We debate and discuss. We give a little here and take a little there. We make arrangements. We reach compromises and understandings. Sometimes these go wrong; an imbalance develops or an injustice arises. You are now aware of an accord that has produced a discord. It is just possible that a current drama in your emotional life may make that worse before it gets better, but it WILL help make it better. I can help you recognise and understand what's about to happen.
