Their point, which is reasonable enough, is that you will go further, faster, if you stop first and think and then proceed at a steady pace. But sometimes we have to have lightning fast reactions. We need to make our move in a matter of moments or risk missing our chance forever. There's absolutely no need in your life now, for panic, pressure, stress or anxiety. But if, you see an opportunity that it surely makes sense to seize, don't talk yourself out of it.
