'Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.' This little rhyme is sung to babes in arms, all across the planet. It is not just empty doggerel. It probably represents the most important information that a new arrival on the planet can ever be supplied with. It is a vital code, a precious instruction, a priceless piece of lifestyle advice. There's a sense now, in which you are beginning to feel as if you are living in a dream. And that's because you are! Relax and row!First, be delicate, discreet and diplomatic. Then, if you're sure that this is not working, ramp up the intensity of your message. Don't go from a whisper to a roar. Go gradually, from a quiet word, to a firm statement and only slowly, if really necessary, pick up a megaphone. There. That's good advice isn't it? Why wouldn't you follow it? Unless, perhaps, you are so emotionally involved with a situation that it is growing ever harder to show restraint. Even if that's the case, though, you really should try.
